Formed in January 2011, International Airlines Group (IAG) is the parent company of Aer Lingus, British Airways, Iberia, LEVEL, Vueling, IAG Cargo and IAG Loyalty. It is a Spanish registered company with shares traded on the London Stock Exchange and Spanish Stock Exchanges. The corporate head office for IAG is in London, UK. IAG is the sixth largest airline group in the world, with 548 aircraft flying to 279 destinations and carrying around 118 million passengers each year. Some of the airlines within the group have been flying for over 100 years and remain leaders in the aviation space. Innovation and embracing technology is a core priority for the group.
IAG combines leading airlines in Ireland, the UK and Spain, enabling them to enhance their presence in the aviation market while retaining their individual brands and current operations. Customers of the IAG airlines benefit from a larger combined network for both passengers and cargo and a greater ability to invest in new products and services through improved financial robustness. British Airways and Iberia are members of the oneworld alliance.

OUR INNOVATION FOCUS

Hangar 51 supports innovators with ways to trial products and new solutions from proof of concept stage to pilots with real customers. We also facilitate work with senior leaders in the travel industry and partnerships with our leading airline and operating company brands.

Building on a strong history of innovation, Hangar 51 has launched a series of innovation and R&D programmes. This includes Hangar 51 Accelerator which gives start-ups and scale-ups the opportunity to demo and develop their products and access our airlines’ resources, expertise and venture capital. Hangar 51 is an important bridge between the IAG operating companies and our innovation network which include the world's leading academic institutions, venture capital investors, start ups and scale ups.

Sustainability Focus

IAG is proud to be a global leader in sustainable aviation. IAG’s innovation and technology leadership within the industry is focused on supporting our Flightpath Net Zero initiative to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. We actively engage with industry partners and associations, policy makers, shareholders, investors and governments to influence policy and drive action to meet our sustainability objectives.

From a technology and innovation perspective, the Hangar 51 team actively seek to partner with emerging technology providers, start ups, scale ups, and innovation partners in the sustainability space. Our accelerator and investment programme contains sustainability themes.
